Privacy Policy

The Free AI Tools is built around browser-side processing and minimal data handling. This page explains exactly what is processed locally in your browser, what limited data leaves your device, which third-party services we use, and how to exercise your privacy rights.

Last updated: May 6, 2026

The short version

The vast majority of tools on this site — image compression, JSON formatting, password generation, hash generation, color picking, CSS tools, text processing, file conversion, and hundreds of others — run entirely in your browser using JavaScript and the Web APIs your browser already provides. Your files, passwords, and text inputs are processed locally and are never transmitted to any server we operate.

A small number of tools require an internet connection to function because they call external services — for example, the Chat with PDF tool uses an AI language model to answer questions about your document, and the DNS Lookup tool queries public DNS resolvers. These exceptions are listed clearly below.

What we collect

  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4): We collect anonymous page-view data, session counts, and general device/browser information through Google Analytics. This data is aggregated and not linked to any personally identifiable information. It helps us understand which tools people use most and where the site can be improved. You can opt out at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Preference data:Your theme choice (light or dark mode) is stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.
  • Newsletter (optional): If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored to send you periodic tool tips. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
  • Hosting and server logs:Our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard request logs — IP addresses, request paths, timestamps — for security and uptime monitoring. These logs are retained per Vercel's standard data retention policy.

What we do not collect

  • We do not store the files, images, text, or passwords you process using client-side tools. That data stays in your browser tab and is discarded when you close the page.
  • We do not require a user account for any tool on this site.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share user data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not build profiles on individual visitors or use cross-site tracking beyond what Google Analytics reports anonymously.

AI tools and server-side processing

The following tools send data to third-party AI services to generate a response. When you use these tools, the content you submit (your document text, your prompt, or your query) is transmitted to the service named:

  • Chat with PDF: The text extracted from your PDF and your chat questions are sent to OpenRouter(openrouter.ai), which routes the request to a language model (currently NVIDIA Nemotron, a free-tier model). Your PDF content is not stored by us beyond the current session. OpenRouter's privacy policy applies to data transmitted through their service.
  • AI Text Humanizer, AI Paraphraser, Code Converter, Code Explainer, AI Story Generator, AI Prompt Generator, and similar AI writing tools: These tools call OpenRouter to access language models. The text you submit is processed by the model and not retained on our servers.
  • AI Image Generator: Image generation requests are sent to an external image generation API. The prompt you enter is transmitted to that service. Generated images are returned to your browser and not stored by us.

If you are processing sensitive information — confidential documents, private communications, proprietary code — we recommend using the client-side tools only and avoiding the AI-powered tools listed above.

Advertising — Google AdSense

This website uses Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google AdSense uses cookies and the DoubleClick cookie to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites on the internet.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info. For more information on how Google uses data from sites that use their services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Cookies

This site uses the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the site to function correctly — theme preference, session state. These cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
  • Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to measure anonymous site usage. No personally identifiable information is collected.
  • Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense and DoubleClick to deliver and measure personalized ads. You can opt out at any time via Google Ad Settings.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar privacy laws — including the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. Because we collect very little personally identifiable information, most requests can be addressed by clearing your browser's cookies and local storage.
