Step 1: Narrowing 76,166 Icons Without Visual Mismatches

When you open the main SVG Nexus icon explorer, typing a keyword filters the index in milliseconds without full-page reloads. Keyword search alone, however, will surface icons from up to 29 different libraries—mixing crisp 2px outline glyphs with duotone illustrations and 3D renders.

Combine four facet filters right away so every search result actually belongs in the same interface:

  • Style filter: Lock to Outline, Solid, Duotone, Brands, or 3D.
  • Library filter: Constrain results to one family—such as Phosphor, Tabler, Lucide, or Heroicons—so corner radii and optical grid padding stay uniform.
  • SPDX License filter: Select MIT, Apache-2.0, ISC, or CC0-1.0 when your project cannot display visible per-icon page credits.
  • Motion filter: Toggle between Static icons and Animated presets.

Step 2: Testing Backdrops and Optical Legibility in Preview

Clicking an icon opens its live inspection page, which displays vector node count, coordinate grid (such as viewBox="0 0 24 24"), uncompressed and estimated gzipped byte payload, and a direct link to the upstream LICENSE.txt file.

Before touching colors, switch the canvas backdrop across Checkerboard Grid, Pure White (#FFFFFF), Soft Slate (#F1F5F9), Dark Slate (#0F172A), Blue Tint, and Emerald Tint. Testing dark slate early catches hardcoded black fills inside multi-part icons that would vanish on dark-mode toolbars. You can also verify your exact foreground/background ratio using our WCAG Color Contrast Studio.

Step 3: Non-Destructive Customization Controls

SVG Nexus preserves an icon's original fill and stroke colors until you explicitly override them—an important safeguard for flags, emoji, and brand marks. When customizing UI glyphs, you can adjust five live parameters:

  1. Color target mode: Choose between Auto (Stroke and Fill), Stroke only, Fill only, Stroke and Fill, or Duotone.
  2. Stroke width (0.5px to 4.0px): Thicken strokes to 2.25px for compact 16px badges, or slim them to 1.5px for 32px feature headers.
  3. Dimensions, Rotation & Opacity: Scale preview dimensions, rotate in 90° steps or custom angles, and flip horizontally or vertically (useful when checking directional icons for RTL layouts).
  4. Live Vector Animation Presets: Preview Spin 360°, Pulse, Bounce, Float, Wiggle, Heartbeat, or Path Draw animations embedded into exported SVG code.
  5. Deep Node Editing: Need to delete a single sub-path or add padding to the viewBox? Click Edit in SVG Editor to pass that exact icon straight into the full DOM inspector.

Step 4: Downloading Files vs Copying Framework Code

Once customized, pick the output format that matches how the icon will be rendered in production:

Clean currentColor SVG snippet vs React TSX output from an icon page
<!-- Clean inline SVG (inherits parent CSS text color) -->
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 24 24"
  fill="none" stroke="currentColor" stroke-width="2"
  stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round"
  aria-hidden="true" focusable="false">
  <path d="M5 12h14" />
  <path d="m12 5 7 7-7 7" />
</svg>

// Typed React / Next.js TSX component
export function ArrowRightIcon(props: React.SVGProps<SVGSVGElement>) {
  return (
    <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 24 24"
      fill="none" stroke="currentColor" strokeWidth={2}
      strokeLinecap="round" strokeLinejoin="round" {...props}>
      <path d="M5 12h14" />
      <path d="m12 5 7 7-7 7" />
    </svg>
  );
}

Individual icon pages provide one-click copy tabs not only for SVG, React 19 / Next.js TSX, Vue 3 (<script setup>), Svelte, Tailwind CSS, CSS Mask, and Base64, but also mobile and backend targets including React Native, Flutter (Dart), Angular, Jetpack Compose, Android Vector Drawable XML, Go, Python, PHP Blade, and JavaFX. If you need bitmap assets instead, select a preset resolution from 32×32 px to 2048×2048 px and download transparent PNG, optimized WebP, or Favicon .ico.
